The sports games section is full of short matches that wrap up in minutes, with a rematch one tap away. Step up for a penalty shootout in football or catch your opponent out with angled shots in table tennis. Both games open in your browser and play on phones, tablets and computers with no download.
Games in this category
- Penalty Kick: a head-to-head shootout in a stadium with a cheering crowd. You shoot first: swipe from the ball toward the goal, where the direction picks the corner and the length sets the power. Then roles swap; you go in goal and tap where the ball is heading to dive. Each side takes five shots, and sudden death follows if it is still level. On a computer, aim with the left and right arrows and shoot with Space.
- Table Tennis: a two-player paddle game where the first to 7 points wins. Hit the ball with the middle of the paddle and it flies straight, with the edge and it goes at an angle; move as you hit to add spin. The ball speeds up a little with every hit. Play a friend on one keyboard (left player W/S, right player arrow keys) or share a tablet with each player on their own half, or take on the computer solo.
Play a friend
Some of Zipi's two-player games now work online too: in Tic Tac Toe, Four in a Row and Backgammon you can invite a friend on another device with a room code or get paired with a random opponent from around the world. Sports rematches are played side by side on one device for now, and Table Tennis is made for exactly that.
Tips
- In Penalty Kick, shooting too hard sends the ball over the bar; medium power into a corner is the safest choice.
- As the keeper, watch the ball's direction and dive late.
- In Table Tennis, hit with the paddle's edge to add angle and pin your opponent in a corner.
- The ball speeds up in long rallies, so keep your paddle near the middle.
