How to play
- On the level screen, pick 1 or 2 player mode and tap an unlocked level.
- Lead Ember across lava and Frost across water; keep both away from green goo.
- Press buttons, walk through levers and push crates to work gates and elevators.
- Collect red gems with Ember and blue gems with Frost.
- Get both heroes into their doors at the same time to finish and earn your stars.
Controls
Keyboard, 2 players: Ember walks with A/D and jumps with W; Frost walks with ←/→ and jumps with ↑. Keyboard, 1 player: WASD or the arrow keys move the selected hero, Space jumps and Tab switches heroes. R restarts the level, L opens the level list, P pauses. Touch: the left, right and jump buttons at the bottom control the selected hero and the swap button switches to the other one; in 2 player mode the buttons in the left corner control Ember and those in the right corner control Frost.
About the game
Lava & Ice Duo is a cooperative puzzle platformer made for two players. Our heroes are two friends born from opposite elements: Ember, whose hair burns like a little bonfire, and Frost, who wears a crown of ice crystals and a blue scarf. Ember strolls across lava pools without a care but fizzles out the moment he touches water, while Frost glides through water but melts in lava. Green goo is dangerous for both of them. In every level you have to bring both heroes to their own doors, and the level only ends when both are standing in their doorways at the same time. Along the way, only Ember can pick up red gems and only Frost can pick up blue ones. As you progress, pressure buttons, levers you flip by walking through them, sliding gates, elevators, ferries and pushable crates come into play. One hero waits on a button while the other slips through a gate, then they swap roles. Each level has three stars: collect every gem, beat the target time and finish without dying. Stars unlock new outfits such as shades, headphones, a cap and a crown. Your progress is saved in your browser, so you can always continue where you left off. Play with a friend on one keyboard, or solo by switching between the two heroes.

Can Lava & Ice Duo be played alone?
Yes. In 1 player mode you switch between the two heroes with the Tab key or the on-screen swap button.
How do I earn stars?
Each level has three stars: collect every gem, beat the target time, and finish without dying after entering the level. You can also earn them separately over different attempts.
What if I get stuck on a level?
After three tries you can optionally watch an ad to skip the level and move on. The R key restarts the level.
